Connected to a Tree

The installation is about how humans can attach to trees, in the same way as a child attach to it´s parents. My close family were forest Sami from South Lapland in Sweden. My great grandfather Erik Robert Almroth was well known for his skills in communicating with trees.

The past landscape of my ancestors was colonized and industrialized between 1700-1940. My grandmother Astrid Almroth´s childhood home, built by my great grandfather, is today flooded and buried on the bottom of Lake Malgomaj. Every spring, stumps from the lost woods from the past landscape are swept up to the surface by the flood. I collected some of them, them and brought them with me for the exhibition in Katarina church, Stockholm, 2023.
